TPC Limited TPC Ltd., which is located in the Kilimanjaro region, is one of Tanzania's largest sugar plantations. 8,000 hectares of its 16,000 hectares of land are devoted to sugar cane cultivation. TPC Ltd. has made substantial investments over the years in the rehabilitation and improvement of fields, infrastructure, and equipment. Due to the sustained progress made in these areas, annual sugar production has increased from 30,000 metric tonnes to the current level of 100,000 metric tonnes. Simultaneously, significant experience was gained and efficiency gains were made in a number of areas, such as cane varieties, fertilisation, irrigation, transport, and sugar recovery.
TPC Ltd. plans to increase sugar production in the coming years by cultivating additional land, introducing new cane varieties, adopting more efficient irrigation and fertilisation methods, and enhancing factory recoveries, despite the fact that its operations have reached maturity and are producing positive results. Other potential future development projects include the establishment of a distillery to increase the added value of molasses and the expansion of year-round electricity production by burning non-cane biomass in the intercrop.
