WFP Tanzania is looking for a Communications Officerbased in the Country Office in Dar es Salaam. This role reports to the Head of the Communications, Marketing, and Advocacy/Partnerships Unit. The Unit plays a key role in promoting WFP’s work both internally and externally, aligned with WFP’s Country Strategic Plan (2022-27).
Key Responsibilities
- Communications Strategy Implementation: Help execute the country communications strategy and project communication work plans to boost WFP’s visibility and support fundraising activities, aligned with WFP’s overall corporate strategies.
- Information Products: Create high-quality informational materials for print and electronic platforms, like newsletters, briefs, and fact sheets, to promote WFP’s work to specific audiences.
- Content Creation: Collect audiovisual content (photos and videos) and write compelling human interest stories to showcase WFP’s efforts to both internal and external audiences.
- Production Support: Provide specialized support and coordination to ensure efficient production of video, photo, and radio products.
- Donor Visibility Content: Generate tailored visibility content for donors, including text, photos, videos, and audio for various online platforms.
- Writing Responsibilities: Draft press releases, speeches, and key messages, guiding them from initial drafts to final versions.
- Event Organization: Plan visibility events (like handover ceremonies and agreement signings) in collaboration with external partners, including donors and government entities.
- Media Coordination: Work with local and international media outlets (print, TV, radio, online) to enhance WFP’s reach and manage relationships with journalists who can elevate WFP’s brand.
- Social Media Management: Develop engaging social media content and manage the WFP Twitter account.
- Media Monitoring: Track and analyze traditional and social media to refine communication activities and strategies.
- Capacity Building: Support WFP staff in communication best practices, ensuring that all activities meet quality standards and have a positive impact.
- Branding Implementation: Aid in executing corporate branding plans to maintain consistency in WFP’s visual identity across all materials.
- Emergency Preparedness: Follow standard practices to help WFP quickly respond and provide resources during crises.
- Other Tasks as Needed.
